Possible Snow

Dear MUSIC 185 students,

Unless the university cancels class tomorrow (which I doubt will happen), I will still be hear to collect programs. I've already gotten many submissions, so I may only be here in the afternoon instead of basically being on campus all day. If any of you are planning on coming tomorrow morning and you cannot make tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday morning, please let me know as soon as possible. Otherwise, I will plan on only being here tomorrow afternoon from 3:30-6:30 (I'll extend the time by an hour since I'll only be here for the one block of time). I'll also be here Wednesday morning - but remember I am leaving at 9am! so you need to be here before then.

Regards,

NH

Class cancelled 4/23/13

Good evening everyone,

As you saw last week, those of you that came to class, I am very ill. I have been to the doctor and cannot seem to shake the flu I've caught. In an effort to take care of myself, I am cancelling class tomorrow. This is the first time I have cancelled class in 4 years of teaching this course. If you do anything with the hour you now have tomorrow during our regular class time, please use it to experience music you are unfamiliar with. Music is so powerful, and can open new doors to creativity, expression, and understanding. Check out the Naxos page via the library system online (you have to be logged into your UW account to access it): http://uwashington.naxosmusiclibrary.com.offcampus.lib.washington.edu/
Search for anything: flowers, french music, mountain songs, etc. Just listen. Listen and think about what you're hearing. Use the hour tomorrow to try something new. Even if you don't like, it'll be worth your time.
Thank you for understanding,
Nicole Harreld

Concert Choices

Here is the list of approved Notecard Concerts.

If you want to see other concerts, all of the School of Music events that have need "Notecard" next to prices on their pages are notecard eligible. Only the concerts listed on the Notecard Concert list above will count though.
UW School of Music Events Page
You show the usher your Notecard when you enter and they will give you a program. Hold onto the program and they will stamp it at the end of the night. If you attend a UW School of Music concert in Brechemin recital hall in the music building, you will be given a red ticket - this must be stapled to your concert program unless you have the person issuing tickets sign the program for you.

Here are a few ensembles in the area you can also check out for your concert attendance. You must turn in a program from these concerts - tickets alone will not get you credit.

Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra
Philharmonia Northwest
Seattle Philharmonic
Tacoma Symphony
Everett Philharmonic
Seattle Modern Orchestra
Orchestra Seattle/Seattle Chamber Singers
Lake Union Civic Orchestra
Bellevue Chamber Chorus
Federal Way Symphony
Seattle Wind Symphony

Lastly, these are the events for the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall and Nordstrom Recital Hall. Your campus club membership will allow you to buy tickets for some of these events for only $12!
Seattle Symphony Events

If you know of any other local symphonies, orchestras, choirs, and the like that are not on this list please let me know so I can add them to it!
